About

Good News Church is a new community of believers in Woodstock, IL.  We are an Evangelical Free Church (EFCA) and are focused on following Jesus together and inviting others to do the same.

Woodstock is a place that needs Jesus. That’s why my wife, Katie, and I along with three others moved here in the summer of 2015. We saw that there were not enough churches in Woodstock to show and tell the gospel to every man, woman, and child. Since moving, others have joined us in this kingdom mission.

Our aim is to be people shaped, motivated, and transformed by the good news of who God is and what he has done in Jesus. The announcement that Jesus is a good King who gave his life in order to free us from slavery to sin, Satan, and death is news that changes everyone who repents and believes it. We want to be a community that both believes and spreads this good news to all those who haven’t heard it.

If you come to one of our gatherings, what you will find is a group of people learning to surrender all of life to Jesus and learning to invite others to do the same. You will find a group of people growing in their depth of fellowship by eating together, serving one another, sharing struggles with one another, and digging into God’s truth with one another. You will find a group looking outward to those who don’t yet know Jesus - to people who have not heard the good news of who God is and what he has done in Jesus.

Here are some of the questions we are asking: Since we have been adopted into God’s family, how can we live as his family? Since Jesus came as our King and washed his disciples’ feet, how can we love others as servants? Since Jesus has given us the power of his Holy Spirit to share his message, how can we go as messengers of his good news?

If this sounds exciting to you, please get in touch.  If this sounds strange and confusing yet intriguing, please get in touch.  We believe everyone is on a spiritual journey and no matter where you are on that journey, you are welcome to explore with us.  Our "How to Get Involved" page will give you some good first steps for getting connected to our church or you can fill out our contact form.
