Luke: To Seek and To Save - Journey to Jerusalem

What is God like? What is Jesus like and what kind of king is he? What is Jesus' kingdom like? How do we follow Jesus and become part of his kingdom here and now? These are the questions this series will explore. In chapters 9 through 19 of The Gospel According to Luke, Jesus and others go on a road trip to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover. While traveling and while eating in people's homes along the way, Jesus teaches about becoming his disciple and following him. He debates with religious leaders about what kingdom of God is like, how to enter it, and who's in and who's out. The heart of it all is a picture of God as a father ready to run out to those who are lost when they come home to him (Luke 15). Jesus states his role in this mission in Luke 19:10: the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.
